William A. He studied at the University of Toronto and obtained his B.A.Sc. in 1952 with a degree in Engineering Physics. He also obtained M.A.Sc. and a Ph.D. degrees from the same university. Altogether, he worked nine years as an advisory physicist with the Westinghouse Research Laboratories and 34 years in academia.〔(Biography of William A. Tiller was a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University, and during this time he held the position of department chairman from 1966 to 1971.
